PrestaShop

SEO
A PrestaShop addon is a module that adds a function to a shop without directly changing the core software. The official marketplace now refers to thousands of modules, themes and services. We found no current source confirming the older totals of 5,000 modules, 800 free options and 1,200 contributors.
You download the module and install it from the back office. Every addon meets a need: payment, delivery, SEO, marketing, security or administration. Modularity avoids some bespoke development, but also creates dependencies because each publisher controls its versions and support.
Our complete PrestaShop guide covers the platform's foundations. For multi-vendor projects, see our PrestaShop marketplace guide.

This page distinguishes seven useful families. We could not find a primary Semrush study supporting the old claim that payment and SEO accounted for 43% of installations, so it has been removed. Priorities depend on your model, country and the functions already provided by the theme or PrestaShop core.
Do not try to cover every family with several modules. Start with an observed problem: a missing payment method, required carrier, unindexed pages or poorly synchronised stock. Then determine whether a native setting, external service or addon meets that need with the fewest dependencies.

This table does not recommend installing all ten modules. It illustrates common functions and the difficulty of maintaining a dated selection. Several product pages hide the price or date behind an account, currency or back office, so unconfirmed information is labelled accordingly.
For SEO, first check indexation, URLs, tags and faceted navigation. Add IndexNow or an advanced module only when the need is established. Our on-page SEO optimisation guide helps distinguish an editorial issue from a technical one.
For catalogue management, a tool such as Store Commander for PrestaShop may serve different purposes from a stock module. Compare daily operations, access rights, history and reversibility before choosing.

A module runs inside the shop and may access the catalogue, orders or customer accounts. Its source and permissions matter as much as its features. The official Marketplace performs technical validation, but the module must still be maintained and security advisories monitored.
Beware of a file distributed with no identifiable publisher, documentation, version history or support channel. Reject 'nulled' copies of paid modules. Check compatibility with your exact PrestaShop and PHP versions, along with the latest update and dependencies. A general promise of compatibility is no substitute for testing.
A vulnerable module can expose the customer database, alter content, execute code or create persistent access. The PrestaShop project has published warnings about SQL injection in third-party modules. Consequences depend on process permissions, hosting and existing controls. This guide gives no universal backdoor percentage or average remediation cost.
Before purchasing, identify the publisher, official URL, support policy and covered versions. Before installing, back up files and the database. Test on a representative copy, checking new tables, scheduled tasks, network calls and permissions. Finally, document a removal procedure in case the module must be abandoned.
Étape 1
Confirm the exact PrestaShop and PHP versions, together with the theme and connected modules. Before a PrestaShop migration, classify each addon as compatible, replaceable, requiring adaptation or removable.
Étape 2
Check the date, changelog and supported versions. An update within 12 months is a useful signal, not a guarantee; a stable module may change less often. Ask for confirmation if no history is available.
Étape 3
Read recent reviews and the publisher's replies. Look for problems affecting your version, language and country. A high rating with no detail or history is not enough.
Étape 4
Install the module on a representative copy. Test the customer journey, scheduled tasks, emails, refunds and back office. Measure loading time before and after.
Étape 5
Check the support channel, hours, language, stated response times and included duration. Ask who fixes an incompatibility and what happens when support expires.
The budget depends on licence prices, subscriptions to connected services, integration and maintenance. Earlier ranges on this page had no primary source. The table retains them only as scoping assumptions for three levels of complexity; they are not verified market prices.
Create an inventory with one line per module. Record the price before tax, currency, support duration, renewal, extensions, installation and removal cost. Include testing and acceptance time. A free addon can be expensive to maintain, while a paid addon can reduce development without guaranteeing a commercial result.
The precise financial return previously attributed to a home-decoration case could not be verified and has been removed. To measure a module, define a metric, period and baseline before installation. Judge abandoned-basket follow-up by attributed orders and margin, not emails sent.
| Shop profile | Number of addons | Licence assumption | Integration assumption | Total scenario to confirm |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Launch (under 100 products) | 10–15 | €200–€600 | €0–€500 | €200–€1,100 |
| Growth (100–1,000 products) | 15–25 | €600–€1,800 | €500–€1,500 | €1,100–€3,300 |
| Mature (1,000+ products) | 25–40 | €1,800–€4,000 | €1,500–€4,000 | €3,300–€8,000 |
The first case concerns an organic cosmetics manufacturer in Marseille. The team improved faceted navigation, abandoned-basket follow-up and reviews. An earlier version published conversion and revenue gains. We retain the case but not the values because neither analytics nor a primary source is available.
The second case concerns an office-supplies wholesaler in Lille. The work covered instalment payments and multi-carrier delivery. Previously quoted basket values and abandonment reductions could not be checked, so they are no longer presented as established results.
These cases remain useful methodologically. Start with a measured point of friction, choose the minimum modules required, then compare equal periods before and after. Record settings, parallel changes and costs. Without this protocol, an increase may come from seasonality, a campaign or a price change.

Installation from the back office is the shortest part. The real work is checking compatibility, permissions, effects on the theme, performance and the upgrade path. An agency should begin with an inventory of active modules and dependencies.
The audit classifies every addon as retained, updated, replaced, adapted or removed. It checks licences, sources, PHP version, scheduled tasks and created data. For a critical module, request a deactivation test and rollback plan. The aim is not to add more extensions, but to reduce unknowns.
The same rigour applies to performance evidence. The Smartwag SEO and GEO case study publishes Search Console screenshots and its measurement window. This avoids crediting a module without data. Our PrestaShop agency can combine compatibility auditing, reliability checks and an integration plan.
Our team inventories your modules, checks compatibility and provenance, then prepares an integration and maintenance plan.
